Hi Neighbors,
Well, we were duped again by Indiana’s weather. My Grandfather used to always say, “If you don’t like Indiana’s weather, wait an hour.” He was right. Looks like we prematurely cancelled the garage sale. I apologize to all that doing so has inconvenienced you. We rescheduled it for Saturday, August 28th, 8a-3p. I will place new ads 30 days out. Can you share with me what type of stuff you’ll be selling?
August is typically a dry month so this may work out well. Plus, it will give others more time to get stuff together.
I can’t apologize enough and thank you for your understanding.
Take care,
Ryan Kruse, President

Hi Neighbors,
Thank you for sending him emails. His response is below.
Without our cul-de-sacs, there are just over a mile of roads within our neighborhood. So, do you think I should pretty much request Hardwood Dr, Fireside Dr., Homeside Drive, Andiron Dr since they get the most traffic? We could look at trying for that matching grant program to repair sections of Andiron Way and in our cul-de-sacs.
What do you think?

Hi Ryan —
I appreciate the many folks from Hearthstone who have reached out to me re the above. Please let your neighbors know I appreciate their input but will not be able to respond to everyone. (To that end, I ask that your share this message with your Hearthstone residents.)
The inventory of streets in “poor” condition (Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of 0-15) in our District 3 is a very long list. Nonetheless, I will consider your streets for submitting to DPW as part of my D3 priority list for 2022. Current street resurfacing costs run about $425,000/per mile, so the allotment of CCF funds coming to our District 3 will only scratch the surface. To assist in this process, please identify specifically the streets (block by block preferably) in Hearthstone that you believe warrant resurfacing the most.
The final decision here will be made by DPW technical/engineering staff, so I cannot make any guarantees that any of the streets in your neighborhood will be selected for next year. I keep and submit to DPW a running priority list of streets needing repaved each year that hopefully gets one or 2 knocked off each year. On a broader front, until the IN General Assembly corrects the unfair formula the State uses to apportion gas taxes (primary source of money for local roads and streets), which has resulted in Marion County historically being underfunded by nearly $75M over the last 10 years, we’ll continue to face an infrastructure challenge in Indianapolis each year. It was a small miracle that DPW was able to squeeze $25M out of the City’s budget for residential streets for next year during the current COVID pandemic.
Keep an eye out for my future Updates and Alerts that will share news about the progress of the CCF project as we move closer to next year. In the meantime, I’ll keep an eye out for your list of Hearthstone’s poorest street segments. Many thanks.

Hello everyone.
We’re going to post the ads for the garage sale Thursday and wanted to know if anyone else plans on having one. We have 5 so far. The date is Saturday, June 26th from 8am-3pm.
The HOA will be advertising again on yardsale.com, Craigslist.com, Facebook Marketplace and Nextdoor. We will also put more signage along Masters Rd., 91st St., and within the neighborhood to direct Buyers to those on Andiron Dr., Andiron Way and Embers Way.
If interested, please let me know.
Thanks,
Ryan Kruse, President
Hello Neighbors!
The Hearthstone HOA wanted to inform you on our efforts to get our streets repaired and repaved.
The City-County Council unanimously passed phase two of the Mayor Hogsetts “Circle City Forward” program. It allocates money for each council district for residential streets. We’re not the only neighborhood in our Councillors district that needs help.
Ryan Kruse, our HOA President, has already contacted him with details of the issues and included pictures. So, to better our chances, we need everyone to email our councilor to get his attention. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!
Let’s get our streets finally paved!
Here’s a news story about the program: Neighborhood Streets Focus Of Latest Circle City Forward Investment
His name is Dan Boots and his email address are dan@bootsforindy.com and dan.boots@indy.gov
Honorable Councilor Dan Boots,
I’m a Homeowner of Hearthstone and our streets need to be repaired and paved. Other than the filling of potholes, nothing has been done since 1986. They’re showing their age and getting worse.
Please consider our neighborhood for the Circle City Forward funding.
Thank you,
Hello Neighbors!
It’s that time of year again to gather up all the stuff you no longer need and want and sell it! The HOA will be advertising again on Garagesale.com, Craigslist.com, Facebook Marketplace and Nextdoor. We will also put more signage along Masters Rd., 91st St., and within the neighborhood to direct Buyers to those on Andiron Dr., Andiron Way and Embers Way.
We had over 10 of our Neighbors participate last year that had great success. We’re dedicated to exceeding expectations. We want to ensure this is worth your time.
Also, there are those that have only a few items to sell but can’t participate. If you’re willing to allow them bring those items over for you to sell them for them, please let us know.
The date is Saturday, June 26th from 8am-3pm.
Please let me know if you have any questions and/or want to participate.
Thank you!
Ryan Kruse, Hearthstone HOA President
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) and Indy Parks will accept live Christmas trees for recycling at multiple drop-off points in public parks throughout the city.
Beginning Friday, December 25, 2020 through Sunday, January 31, 2021, residents can drop off live trees at eight different locations. Trees must be free of ornaments, tinsel, tree stands and all other decorative materials. Trees should be dropped off only at the specially designated area within the park, and only between dawn and dusk.
Drop-off locations are as follows:
The Indianapolis live tree recycling service recycles trees for sustainable landscaping resources, such as mulch and soil blends. Last year 7,234 Christmas trees were chipped by Park Maintenance. The mulch and soil blends are used across Indy Parks in the spring.
The live tree recycling program is not for commercial use, and is solely for Marion County residents.
The Hearthstone Annual Meeting is at 4pm on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Andiron Ct. Please bring your own chair and a mask. If you have trouble wearing a mask or won’t be able to make it, lets us know and we’ll send you a copy of the minutes.
Hello Neighbors!
We’ve have been made aware of three individuals that are passing the loading school bus at the corner of Andiron Dr. and Fireside Dr. around 7:30 am. If this is you or you know who it is, please stop. No child’s life is worth the time saved illegally passing a loading bus.
